Emails Sent to the Yale Administration and the Yale Campus Police on May 8th, 2018, During the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax, Before, During, and After the Yale Campus Police Officers Arrived

Below please find the emails that I sent to the Yale Administration and the Yale Campus Police on May 8th, 2018, during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale. These emails were sent before, during, and after the Yale Campus Police Officers arrived at my dorm, the Hall of Graduate Studies. So, you can see from these emails, that the Yale Administration and the Yale Campus Police engaged in gross malfeasance, and they lied about me, particularly in their public statements immediately following the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale. They knew exactly what had occurred; they knew exactly why I had called the non emergency helpline of the Yale Campus Police; they knew from the very beginning that I was entirely innocent of the false accusations of racism against me.

I just wanted to let you all know that I had to call the Yale Police again.
I entered the common room a little while ago, because students had been making noise in there all evening, and I just wanted to check on the room and make sure that everything was ok, and because I was throwing something away.
The light was off in the interior room, but there was someone’s things all over the desk. So, I walked into the interior room.
There was someone sleeping on the couch with a blanket completely covering them.
I turned on the light and said “Who are you? You can’t sleep in here. You’re not supposed to be sleeping in here. Are you a resident?”
A woman pulled the blanket down. She said, “Are you the person who called the cops on the party?”
Then, she picked up her phone like she was going to take a picture of me or call the cops.
And, I said, no, I’m going to call the police, because you’re not supposed to be sleeping in here.
I called the Yale Police. They’re here.
I told them why I think those students are attempting to provoke an incident by being noisy in the common room.
In front of me, she said that I need to be institutionalized.

The police are dealing with her.
They said that they are going to come back and speak with me thereafter.
I will let you know what happens.

I am copying Officer Schenkle, so that she can explain the situation to the officers who came by tonight.
The police did not seem to understand the situation. I tried to explain what was happening to them, but they didn’t seem to understand. They said that they were going to contact the Dean of Students. I said, please contact the Dean of Students. I also told them to read Officer Schenkle’s police report. I had also contacted Officer Schenkle to document that someone(s) was coming by my door and shaking my handle each evening for approximately two weeks.
I tried to explain that this person in the common room was clearly one of the students who has been harassing me, which is why I called the police.

I just feel compelled to let everyone know that the woman, I heard over the police officer’s radio that her name is Olo Dayo — she lives on the 5th floor next to the elevator apparently, has slammed both the common room door and the elevator door as hard as she can several times during the past 15 to 20 minutes.
This is obviously an attempt to harass me. This has been happening all night long as well actually.
I am literally begging you at this point to save me from this ongoing harassment and close the common room until the end of the school year.

My Then Attorney’s Response to Yale President Peter Salovey’s Grossly False and Defamatory August Statement Regarding the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale

Below please find my then attorney’s response to Yale President Peter Salovey’s grossly false and defamatory August Statement about me. I know for a fact that persons inside Yale tried to stop President Salovey from releasing this statement. I know for a fact that they tried to tell him how immoral and wrongful and illegal and false and defamatory it was. I know for a fact that they tried to tell him that he was lying and putting my life in grave danger by releasing this grossly false and defamatory statement.

I want to make perfectly clear that the Yale Administration and the Yale Campus Police always knew, from the very beginning, that I was entirely innocent of the false accusations against me. The Yale Administration and the Yale Campus Police were complicit, from the beginning, in the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale.

Please note in this letter that my attorney makes clear that Yale’s General Counsel admitted that there was absolutely no reason to think that I had EVER acted out of racial animus or bias in any way, shape, or form. My attorney also makes clear that Yale’s General Counsel had dropped the racial component of the disciplinary charges against me entirely. I do want to point out that my then attorney later told me that Yale’s General Counsel later denied having dropped the racial component of the disciplinary charges. But, they never denied having admitted that there was no reason whatsoever to think that I had ever acted out of racial animus or bias in any way, shape, or form. Here is the letter:

Dear Attorney Sawyer:

While I support Yale’s long overdue efforts to combat discrimination on its campus, I am nothing short of shocked by President Peter Salovey’s reckless and wholly irresponsible act of condemning my client as a racist in a university-wide memo yesterday. The damage to my client is incalculable. President Salovey recklessly concluded that the May 8th incident involving my client’s call to the Yale campus police was motivated by racial animus while clearly ignoring the facts and circumstances well within Yale’s knowledge, particularly her ongoing complaints in writing and to the Title IX Coordinators of harassment following a February 24th incident prompting the May 8th call. You told me that Yale was not charging my client with racial harassment and knew this was not an act of microaggression. You reported that Yale professors who know Ms. Braasch vouched that she is not in any way racist and have been very supportive of her and her history as a social justice warrior. (I’ve attached letters from Yale professors to this effect as well.) Nevertheless, in advance of her response to the non-race based harassment charges and any hearing on the charge, Yale’s President saw fit to label her actions racially based and use her alleged “race based” harassment as impetus for sweeping changes to Yale’s practices and policies.

Insodoing Yale has completely violated my client’s right to due process; she has been judged and convicted without a hearing. Yale has precluded even the possibility of a fair hearing and further defamed my client without ever hearing her defense which, as you will recall, was purposefully delayed by Yale in light of her fragile emotional state in keeping ADA guidelines. Yale’s actions toward my client are reprehensible and actionable.

President Salovey’s action is all the more egregious in light of my client’s mental health disabilities. Yale has been acutely aware of my client’s current fragile state and suicidal ideation as a result of the social media war erroneously and unfairly waged against her by a Yale student who misinterpreted her actions. As a result of President Salovey’s memo, Yale has placed my client at an increased risk for suicide and has exacerbated her anxiety and depression.

Yale has breached also its contract with my client as specifically provided in the Graduate School’s Code of Conduct stating, “A student accused of a breach of the Regulations will be presumed innocent unless and until found by the Dean’s Advisory Committee on Regulations and Discipline, pursuant to these procedures, to have breached the Regulations. “ Clearly, my client has had no such presumption of innocence and arguably has been discriminated against under the ADA.

As a result, I immediately demand the following that:

Yale immediately dismiss all disciplinary proceedings against my client;
Yale release all body cam videos to the media with advance notice to me of the release date;
Yale issue a public apology to my client for concluding that she acted with any racial animus in connection with these incidences, and that all the evidence known to Yale suggests otherwise; and
That Yale publicly announce that Ms. Braasch has been publicly misrepresented as engaging in discriminatory misconduct. Indeed her work at Yale and beyond evidence that she harbors no racial animus whatsoever. To the contrary, she has dedicated herself to causes of social justice including the cause of eradicating all forms of discrimination.

The Yale Campus Police Department is Continuing Their Grossly Illegal Campaign of Malfeasance Against Me to Destroy My Life and Career to Cover Up Their Own Wrongdoing

The Yale Campus Police Department is continuing their grossly illegal campaign of malfeasance against me to try to destroy my life and career to cover up their own wrongdoing. Today, the Yale Campus Police Department harassed and badgered me over a perfectly benign, innocuous, anodyne tweet. They insinuated that I am some kind of threat, and they insinuated that I did something illegal or wrongful or criminal. They did this, because they are doing absolutely anything and everything they can to destroy me and to paint me as some kind of criminal or wrongdoer, in order to cover up their own wrongdoing.

I received a voice mail at approximately 2:20 pm EST today from a Sergeant Reach (sp?) of the Yale Campus Police Department. I returned the call, because I actually believed and hoped that the Yale Campus Police Department was going to try to help me secure justice by pursuing criminal charges against Lolade Siyonbola for the illegal video recording made of me (to publicly shame me for my mental health disability) on May 8th, 2018, and its subsequent illegal distribution. I also believed that perhaps the Yale Campus Police Department wanted to speak to me about releasing the Yale Campus Police Body Camera Footage from May 8th, 2018, that exonerates me and exposes the gross malfeasance of the Yale Campus Police, as well as the Yale University Administration.

Sergeant Reach asked me what I meant by my tweet on May 13th. I had no idea what she was talking about. I was completely taken aback. I asked her to which tweet she was referring. I had no idea what she was talking about. She read the following tweet to me:

Sergeant Reach asked me what I meant by this tweet.

I said that this week is important, because Yale is trying to pretend now that the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax never happened, and this weekend is Commencement, and Yale thinks that everyone will stop caring after this weekend. So, if I want to get the truth out, then I really need to do that this week.

Sergeant Reach asked me if all I wanted to do was to get the truth out, or if I wanted to make other things happen.

I told her that I am trying to get information out. I told her that I’m trying to get the truth out to the public about what really happened during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale.

Sergeant Reach asked me if that was all I was planning on doing. She asked me if I was planning on using my blog to get the truth out. She asked me again if I was planning on doing anything else besides get the truth out.

I asked her what she was suggesting. She said she just wanted to find out from me what I was planning on doing. I told her that her insinuation that I had done something or was planning on doing something wrongful or illegal was disgusting. I told her that I had done absolutely nothing wrong or illegal.

I said I think this conversation is over. And, then I said, no, wait, do you want to know what I would like to talk about? I would like to talk about the Yale Campus Police Department actually doing their jobs and pursuing criminal charges against Lolade Siyonbola for the illegal video recording of me on May 8th, 2018, and its subsequent illegal distribution. This video recording was illegal under Connecticut State Law. I would also like to talk about the Yale Campus Police Department releasing the body camera footage from May 8th, 2018, that exonerates me and exposes the malfeasance of the Yale Campus Police and the Yale University Administration. That’s what I would like to talk about.

Sergeant Reach said that she wasn’t high enough in the department to do this. I said, well, you can begin the process. You can go to your supervisor and you can begin the process of pursuing criminal charges against Lolade Siyonbola for the illegal video recording of me from May 8th, 2018. And, you can go to your supervisor and begin the process of releasing the Yale Police Body Camera footage from May 8th, 2018, which exonerates me and exposes the malfeasance of the Yale Campus Police and the Yale University Administration.

Sergeant Reach asked me if I had already made these requests, and I told her that I had made these requests multiple times, but that I was being ignored by the Yale Campus Police Department. And, I said that the Yale Campus Police Department chooses to ignore me unless they are making disgusting insinuations against me.

Sergeant Reach told me that they called, because they were concerned for my well being.

I told her that that was a ridiculous joke. The Yale Campus Police Department destroyed my life. The Yale Campus Police Department destroyed my career. I told her, “Do you know how many times I almost killed myself during this past year? Do you? That’s what you wish would have happened. You wish that I had just curled up into the fetal position and had taken my own life.”

I told Sergeant Reach that if the Yale Campus Police Department really cares about my well being, then they would do their actual jobs and pursue criminal charges against Lolade Siyonbola for the illegal video recording of me and that they would release the police body cam footage from May 8th, 2018, that exonerates me. If they really care about my well being, then the Yale Campus Police would do these things, but they don’t really care about my well being; they only care about protecting themselves from legal liability and covering up their own wrongdoing.

Sergeant Reach asked me if I was planning on killing or hurting myself now. I told her no, now I want to live, because I am going to secure justice. I told her that the Yale Administration and the Yale Campus Police Department are going to get the justice that they deserve.

Sergeant Reach asked me if I had any plans to return to Connecticut, again insinuating that I’m some kind of threat, when I am literally the least threatening and least violent person on the planet.

I told her that I have no plans to return to Connecticut, because it isn’t safe for ME. I told her that I had to literally flee Yale’s campus for MY personal safety, and I was taunted by a mob while I was fleeing Yale’s campus, and that is the direct fault of the Yale Campus Police and the Yale Administration.

I told Sergeant Reach that the Yale Campus Police Department was harassing me and badgering me by taking a perfectly innocuous, benign, anodyne tweet and trying to turn it into something ugly, in order to use it to attack me and harass me and to suggest that I had done something wrongful and criminal and illegal and to paint me as a threat and as the wrongdoer to cover up their own wrongdoing. And, I told Sergeant Reach that if the Yale Campus Police Department chose to continue to harass me that I would be pressing charges against them.

And, then, Sergeant Reach chose to end the conversation.

Your account of what occurred last night is entirely inaccurate. I wish you had spoken with me.

I did not report an unauthorized person in the common room at HGS. I reported someone whom I did not recognize sleeping in the common room of HGS, which is a violation of HGS regulations and is in the HGS resident handbook.

I was checking the common room, because there had been very noisy persons in the common room all evening, slamming the doors to the room and the elevator repeatedly all night long, and I wanted to make sure that everything was ok. I had no idea that I would find anyone in the common room at all at that late hour, especially not someone who appeared to have set up the room as a hotel suite.

The woman whom I encountered was lying on the couch, completely covered by a blanket from head to toe. I could only see a human form covered entirely with a blanket. I had no idea the race or the sex or the identity of the person sleeping on the couch when I turned on the light and asked the person if they were a resident and if they were a student. When the woman awoke, she would answer none of these questions. I did immediately identify myself as an HGS resident.

The woman grabbed her phone and looked as if she was going to begin taking pictures of me. She said to me, “Are you the lady who called the cops on that party?” identifying herself as one of the persons who had possibly been harassing me all semester.

For these reasons, I decided to call the Yale Police. I immediately sent an email to Provost Spangler, Associate Provost Smith, Officer Schenkle, George Longyear, Beth Bishop, and Kate St. Marie, to let them know what was happening. I told them exactly what was going on. I will be happy to forward my emails to them to you.

The ostensible suggestion that I called the police for any other reason than a reasonable concern for my personal safety is unequivocally false.

I am completely dismayed.

I hope very much that the evidence has led whichever investigators to determine that I did absolutely nothing wrong, that I acted as any reasonable person would have under the circumstances and as I had been instructed, repeatedly, by Yale and by Yale’s Police Department, and that I absolutely did not engage in any behavior that was in any way motivated by racial bias or animus of any kind.

I am also hoping that Yale will make a public statement to this effect. My life has been destroyed. My human and civil rights career has been destroyed. My social justice career has been destroyed. My career in academia has been destroyed. My legal advocacy career has been destroyed. I have to try and save and rebuild my life now. I told Yale repeatedly that I was being terrorized in my own home in on campus housing. I begged Yale to close that common room. I made it very clear, repeatedly, that that common room was only being used to harass, threaten, and attack me for months. Yale did nothing. I need Yale to act now and to make a public statement clearing me of wrongdoing, so that I can try and save my life. All I have is my good name and my good reputation, and both have been taken from me.

None of this means that I do not support, wholeheartedly, institutional reforms at Yale, and all institutions, which make students and all persons of color feel welcome and included. I strongly support such institutional reforms. I support the black social justice movement 100%. I support the creation of a Title VI office on campus. I always have. And, nothing has changed. I am the same proud social justice warrior that I ever was.

You will be receiving detailed information soon from Associate Dean Richard Sleight about the disciplinary procedure we have in place to make this determination, including the information we have received from the police. If you have any questions as the process unfolds, Dean Sleight will be available to answer them. The procedures also provide that a former member of the Committee on Regulations and Discipline shall be available to you for consultation. Dean Sleight will provide you with a list of former members and informed people who you may request to advise you. Professor Szabo or another member of the Philosophy Department may also be willing to advise you during the process.

I understand this is a very stressful time for you. I hope that moving through the disciplinary procedure will provide a way forward based on thoughtful consideration of the situation.

Text from the March 9th, 2018 Yale Campus Police Report that I Filed with Officer Grace Schenkle about the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale

Below please find the text from the March 9th, 2018 Yale Campus Police Report that I filed with Officer Grace Schenkle, regarding everything that had occurred up until that point with respect to the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale. There are a few minor errors in this report, but it is largely correct, and Officer Schenkle was very kind to me. I do not believe that the few minor errors are anything other than simple human error. Officer Schenkle had her body camera in operation during our interview, so it will always be possible to go back to the video to determine what I actually said, if need be. Here is the text:

On 03/09/18 at 1602 hours, I met with Sarah Braasch (GRAD ’20) in the meeting room at the lobby of the Yale Police Department, 101 Ashmun Street, to discuss her concerns with regards to a previous complaint of a suspicious person at the Hall of Graduate Studies, 320 York Street, originally reported to the Yale Police Department on 02/24/18.

Upon meeting Braasch, she introduced herself and told me she is a fourth year Yale Graduate student in the philosophy department and primarily works out of the Yale Law School and the Old Campus for her classes and studies. She also told me she is a licensed attorney who specializes in Civil Rights Law and works with various law groups at the Yale Law School.

Braasch currently resides at the Hall of Graduate Studies, 320 York Street, Room 1201. This room is located in the HGS tower and is a “stand-alone” residential room on the twelfth floor. There is one room across from hers, Room 1200, which is the HGS Graduate Housing Common Room. This room remains locked and is only accessible by residents with their “building key” either from the door at this entry area or a door in an adjacent stairwell. The elevator and a narrow staircase is also in this space. It is a small area, only two to three people, standing close to one another, could fit in this area at one time.

The residential areas HGS are only accessible with key access, including access to the common rooms, hallways, stairwells, and the elevator. Any person not residing in these rooms should be escorted by their resident host.

On 02/24/18, Braasch had been waiting alone on the first floor of HGS for the elevator to the tower. When the elevator arrived to the floor, an unknown male walked by her and entered the elevator just before her. Unaware if he was a resident, she said she waited a moment for him to use his “resident” key to activate the elevator but he did nothing. She then used her key and pressed the button for the twelfth floor. She asked him what floor he was going to and he said the twelfth. She said they did not speak during the rest of the elevator ride. When she got off the elevator, she did not feel comfortable entering her room with an unknown person beside her so she walked down the stairs to the eleventh floor. She said she waited a moment and then walked up the other tower stairwell and entered the common room from that entry door. She noted the common room was dark and empty. She stood quietly near the Room 1201 door, which is directly across from her room, to listen if the man had left the area. She exited the common room and walked towards her room when she saw the man standing on the stairwell landing between floors 11 and 12. He asked her if she knew where the common room was located. She told him it is the room she had just exited and that it I empty and dark and did not look like there was any event taking place. She told him if he did not belong there, he should leave and the room can be accessed by residents with a key. He told her he was a student. Braasch said she told him he was “making her nervous and uncomfortable”, and he responded by “scoffing” at her remark, turning his head to the side and sighing. She then entered her room, leaving him on the stairwell landing. A few minutes later, she contacted the Yale PD to report a suspicious person. (Yale PD Dispatch confirmed the call came in on 02/24/18 at 1721 hours.)

She said she started by telling the dispatcher she didn’t know if this call needed the police to respond. (YPD Dispatch told me the dispatch was for a suspicious person in the HGS tower at the eleventh or twelfth floor. The man was described as a 25yo black male wearing a long black puffy coat and blue jeans.) The dispatcher told her they would send police officers to check out the area. (Yale PD Officers responded to area and since it was determined the man was a Yale student and a guest of a HGS resident, no report was written.)

Braasch said approximately forty-five minutes to an hour after she had contacted the Yale PD, a gathering had taken place at the common room across the hall. She heard a few groups of two or three people speaking loudly, using obscenities, and mocking her. One would say, “You’re making me nervous,” while another would respond, “Watch out, she’ll call the police.” The comments were repeated two or three times by different people over a thirty minute time frame and they were probably waiting to leave on the elevator while they were doing this. She believes the man who she had seen earlier had been at the gathering in the common room and told the attendees about their interaction which in turn incited their comments. She said there were no direct threats or any knocking on her door but, at that time, she felt “trapped”, “harassed”, and was afraid to leave her room since she wanted to avoid confrontation. She did not reply to them and remained in her room with the door closed. Braasch does not know who the people were or how many people had been at the gathering in the common room. While this was happening, Braasch sent an email to her HGS Housing Coordinators, Ester Sosa and Grant (unknown last name), advising them of the suspicious person incident and her current situation where she felt she could not leave her room. Sosa responded to her via email and told her she had spoken to the man, his HGS resident host, and the Yale PD and that the man is a Yale student. Grant did not respond.

Over the weekend, Braasch contacted Beth Bishop, and Kate St. Marie, both from Yale Graduate Housing via email. She expressed her general concerns of resident safety, visitor access and events in Room 1201, and the specific incidents that had occurred on 02/24/18. On 02/26/18, Braasch met in person with Bishop and St. Marie who told her they “would handle this” with the residents and parties involved.

On 03/02/18, Braasch met with George Longyear, Director of Yale Graduate Housing, and Grant, the HGS Housing Coordinator. During this meeting, Longyear told her the man she had encountered on 02/24/18, wrote a letter which implies that her behavior is motivated by racial animus and also implies that the response by the Yale PD was also motivated by racial animus. He wanted her to be aware that it had been distributed to Yale Deans. She states she would never behave in any manner motivated by racial animus. She asked Longyear for a copy of the letter which he did not produce for her. She believes this letter may be defaming her character.

On 03/05/18 and 03/07/18, Braasch sent emails to Longyear, Bishop, and St. Marie requesting a copy of the letter sent to Yale Deans. Longyear responded, via email, for her to send her request to Yale Dean Michelle Nearon, Graduate Student Development and Diversity. On 03/07/18 and 03/08/18, Nearon responded, via email, stating she is “looking very carefully into the details of concern and will get back to you next week”.

On 03/07/18, Braasch sent an email to the Yale PD requesting a possible meeting to discuss her concerns. On 03/08/18, Lt. Logan corresponded with her and advised her to come to the Yale PD on 03/09/18 to voice her concerns.

Braasch said she has had no contact or correspondence with the man she encountered on 02/24/18 or any other person, other than those stated in this report, regarding any of incidents on 02/24/18. She said she is upset this letter may be defaming her character and Yale’s response to her concerns. She may pursue legal options civilly with regards to the letter.

Re: Defamation of Character of Sarah Braasch on MSNBC

Attorney Harris:

First and foremost, as I made clear in my prior letter regarding NBC News, this letter serves as notice that the video recording made of me on May 8^th, 2018, in my Yale University dormitory, the Hall of Graduate Studies, was made illegally, under Connecticut State Law, and the distribution of this video recording, either the audio or the video therefrom, or any part thereof, is illegal under Connecticut State Law, including under CT General Statutes, Chapter 952, Section 53A, Provisions 189 a and b. I intend to pursue prosecution for the illegal distribution of this video recording to the full extent of the law. The distribution of this illegal video recording is a felony under CT State Law, with a statute of limitations of 5 years. I demand that you remove this video wherever it may have been posted by any agent of Comcast Corporation. I demand that you remove any links to this video wherever these links may have been posted by any agent of Comcast Corporation.

Attorney Sternlicht’s claims in his response letter dated May 7, 2019, that NBCUniversal’s distribution of this illegal video recording is not illegal are false. Attorney Sternlicht claims that Connecticut is a one party state, which is false, but even if that were the case, it remains true that I had more than a reasonable expectation of privacy standing in the doorway of my dorm room on Yale’s campus at 2 am, and it remains true that the video recording of me from May 8^th, 2018, is illegal under CT State Law, as I mentioned in my initial letter. Once you have been made aware that the video recording is illegal, you are aware that you are illegally distributing an illegal video recording, and NBCUniversal has been made aware that the video recording is illegal. And, Attorney Sternlicht’s claims that I consented to being both recorded and filmed are patently ridiculous. I did not consent either to being filmed or recorded just because my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, held up her cell phone, nor did I consent to being either filmed or recorded because my attacker told me she was placing the video recording on Facebook Live at the very end of the recording. I did not hear her say this at the time, and even if I could have consented retroactively, I clearly did not, because, as Attorney Sternlicht notes, I was very clearly objecting to having my photo taken, which also makes clear that I was not aware, nor did I consent to being recorded or filmed. Moreover, that Attorney Sternlicht would attempt to describe an illegal online campaign to publicly shame an older, disabled woman for her mental health disability by violating her privacy rights as a matter of public interest, justifying NBCUniversal’s illegal distribution of this video, is both asinine and reprehensible. Moreover, Attorney Sternlicht’s claim that Staff Writer Erik Ortiz linking me to a police shooting of an unarmed black woman near Yale University is not defamatory and did not endanger my life and destroy my career and reputation and livelihood is, frankly, shocking.

This letter serves as a demand that all Comcast Corporation agents cease and desist their grossly false and defamatory statements about me, Sarah Braasch, immediately. This letter also serves as a demand that all Comcast Corporation agents who have made such grossly false and defamatory statements about me, including, but not limited to, MSNBC, Joy Reid, and Chris Hayes, immediately and publicly retract those statements and immediately and publicly apologize to me, Sarah Braasch, for having made those grossly false and defamatory statements.

These grossly false and defamatory statements include, but are not limited to, the following:

MSNBC has produced a video, which grossly defames me as guilty of racial harassment. This video is available on MSNBC’s website and their YouTube Channel, and has been widely viewed and distributed online. On May 29^th, 2018, while I was in hiding to save my own life, after I had to flee Yale’s campus while being taunted by a mob, and while I was receiving thousands upon thousands of death threats and threats of violence, including sexual violence, and while I was curled up in the fetal position in a state of literal physical shock, convulsing with the chills, terrified to leave my room, knowing that my life and career had been wrongfully destroyed, MSNBC aired a Town Hall called “Everyday Racism in America.” During this defamatory broadcast, Joy Reid and Chris Hayes made grossly false and defamatory statements about me and what happened during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale that can only be construed as an attempt to destroy my life and career as a human and civil rights licensed attorney activist and to bring about the death of an innocent civil rights activist and older disabled woman by either driving me to suicide or inciting my murder.

Joy Reid and Chris Hayes concocted a grotesque fairy tale about what occurred, and what I had done, and what my motivations were, and who I am.

Chris Hayes begins by telling a straight up bald faced lie and trying to make it seem like I just happened to come across a random sleeping black person in the huge, ground floor common room of my Yale dorm in the middle of the night, instead of what actually happened, which was that the person who had been terrorizing me that evening and for months in my isolated dorm room was camped out immediately outside of my isolated dorm room, in the small, little used room next door, the only other room on that floor, at the top of a tower.

Chris Hayes described the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax, of which I was the victim, as a trauma that I inflicted on my attacker, and he said that I othered her.

I was the person who was being terrorized in my isolated dorm room that evening and for months. I was the person who was being targeted for my sex, disability, age, and race. I was the person who was traumatized. I was the person who was being othered. I was the person being policed. I was the person being excluded from her own campus, from her own home.

Chris Hayes actually asked my attacker what it was like to spend time in the common room of my Yale dorm after the video had gone viral, meaning the huge, ground floor common room of my Yale dorm. This is a preposterous and gross and willful mischaracterization of the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale.

Joy Reid asked my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, if she had seen me on campus since May 8^th, 2018, and what had occurred if she had. Well, she wouldn’t have seen me on campus, because I had to immediately go into hiding for my personal safety. I had to move into a part of the dorm that was under construction, where I wouldn’t be attacked. I had to flee Yale’s campus for my personal safety, and I feared for my life while I was being taunted by a mob, while I was waiting, desperately, for my Uber.

Joy Reid said that it feels like we’re back in the fight over whether black people are going to have access to public spaces, and she was referring specifically to me when she said this. One of the key points of my legal and human and civil rights advocacy for years has been the desegregation of the public space. This information is widely and readily available online, including in my bio on Yale’s Philosophy Department website. In fact, my focus on the desegregation of the public space is why I chose to go work as a Human Rights Fellow at Ni Putes Ni Soumises in France, a women’s rights organization comprised primarily of women from the predominantly Muslim and North and Sub-Saharan African immigrant communities surrounding the major cities of France, for whom desegregation of the public space is a pillar of their movement. This is information that is widely and readily available online, including in my bio on Yale’s Philosophy Department website. Why didn’t I have the right to feel safe and to be free from harassment, stalking, and attacks in my own home, my isolated dorm room, and as I walked across campus?

Of course, the entire panel and its assorted guests, a panel on Everyday Racism in America, in which I was included as an example of a racist who tries to get black and brown people killed by weaponizing the police, made grossly false and defamatory statement after statement about how what I did was racist, and how I was suspicious of my attacker, because of the color of her skin, and how I was trying to weaponize the police against black and brown people, and how I was trying to exclude black and brown people from my white space, and how I thought I had the authority to police my white space. It was, frankly, grotesque. It was a grotesque fairy tale concocted to endanger my life and destroy my lifelong career as an innocent human and civil rights licensed attorney activist.

Tim Wise, the author of White Like Me: Reflections on Race From a Privileged Son, said that I called the Yale campus police on my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, with the knowledge of Tamir Rice’s death at the hands of the police, and he made the following, absolutely obscene statement about what I was thinking during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale:

“My discomfort with you right now is worth more than the potential that your life could be snuffed in ten minutes. Until that stops, nothing is going to change.”

I was literally in a state of shock, listening to this grotesque lie about me, about who I am, about what happened during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale, about what I did, and about what my motivations were, while Joy Reid and Chris Hayes and the other panelists clapped and nodded in agreement.

When Tim Wise says something like this about me on MSNBC, this can only be construed as an attempt to endanger my life and destroy my career and reputation and livelihood. He is trying to get me killed by saying that I was trying to kill a black person by weaponizing the police, which is the most grotesque and disgusting lie imaginable.

Then, Chris Hayes concocted a grotesque fairy tale immediately thereafter about what happened during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale. Chris Hayes explicitly states that I called 911, which is a bald faced lie. Chris Hayes explicitly states that I never tried to speak to my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, before calling the Yale campus police, which is a bald faced lie. Chris Hayes explicitly states that I was so uncomfortable with my attacker, because of the color of her skin, that I didn’t even bother to try to speak to her before dialing 911, which is a straight up, bald faced lie.

Joy Reid explicitly states that what I did was a nuisance call, and that there should be legal repercussions for what I did. Then the panel discussed how much of this is the result of gentrification and white people moving into black communities. I grew up among black and brown people in a racially integrated religious cult, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the notion that I would regard a black or brown person as suspicious, because of the color of their skin is so ludicrous and asinine that it is too preposterous to be considered. This is information that is widely and readily available online. The panel also spoke about how all of these racist 911 callers who are trying to get black and brown people killed by weaponizing the police are motivated by Trump and Trump’s rhetoric, and how Trump unleashed our racism and empowered us to be racist. I have only ever voted Democratic my entire adult life, and I was a vociferous anti-Trump advocate during the last presidential election. Again, this is information that is widely and readily available online.

These are straight up, bald faced lies, on the part of Joy Reid, Chris Hayes, and MSNBC, meant to destroy my life, my career as a lifelong human and civil rights licensed attorney activist, and ruin my reputation and livelihood, with reckless disregard for the truth, lies which almost drove me to suicide and incited my murder.

Moreover, the illegal video of me from May 8^th, 2018, was made of me, illegally, and widely distributed online, illegally, for the purpose of shaming me for my disability, my mental health disability, including by MSNBC. The fact that I was targeted for my mental health disability is made abundantly clear in the video itself, when my attacker repeatedly calls me psychotic and says that I should be put in a mental institution. She also explicitly states that it was Yale who illegally fed her my personal information, including my mental health history, when she says that Yale knows that I’m crazy and that I should be institutionalized. That MSNBC would participate in the cable news broadcast and online public shaming of a middle aged, disabled woman, who was made a target, because of her mental health disability, is reprehensible. The most defamatory and disgusting thing that MSNBC did in producing this broadcast meant to destroy my life, a broadcast which almost drove me to suicide and incited my murder, was to purposely and purposefully omit those portions of the video that make it clear that my attacker was targeting me for my mental health disability, as well as those portions of the video where my attacker stigmatizes mental illness and makes clear that Yale was illegally feeding her my personal information, in gross violation of my privacy, including my mental health history.

These are straight-up, bald-faced lies, on the part of Comcast Corporation, including MSNBC, Joy Reid, and Chris Hayes, meant to destroy my life, my career as a lifelong human and civil rights licensed attorney activist, and ruin my reputation and livelihood, with reckless disregard for the truth, lies which almost drove me to suicide and incited my murder. Joy Reid and Chris Hayes lied on MSNBC about me. They didn’t even try to find out the truth of what happened. They did not meet the bare minimum requirement with respect to their ethical and journalistic obligations to report the truth before they endangered and destroyed my life by telling lies about me on MSNBC, broadcast to the entire world.

The damage to my life, reputation, livelihood, good name, and career are incalculable. I was forced to flee my dorm room and then campus. I was suicidal for near a year and forced into hiding for my personal safety. I continue to be defamed as a racist, including recently, by Erik Ortiz and NBC News. I can’t even begin to count the death threats and threats of violence that I have received. I can’t even begin to count the number of instances of defamation as guilty of racial harassment that I have endured in the national and international news media, as well as on social media, including on MSNBC and including by Joy Reid and Chris Hayes. My academic and legal and human and civil rights careers are over. I will never be able to secure gainful employment. I will no longer be able to support myself.

I had been a lifelong human and civil rights licensed attorney activist who had devoted her life to undermining oppression in all of its many forms, including racism. No one who has ever known me has ever heard or seen me say or do anything racist ever. Everything that I had wished for my life is no longer possible. Everything that I had strived for my entire life has been destroyed, it has been stripped from me through no fault of my own.

As a result, I immediately demand the following:

Comcast Corporation will remove the illegal video recording of me and any part thereof, wherever it exists, including all links thereto;
Comcast Corporation will retract and remove all grossly false and defamatory statements about me, wherever they exist, including all links thereto;
Comcast Corporation will produce a statement, including an apology to me, and Comcast Corporation will explain the gross illegality of all other grossly false and defamatory statements about me, as well as their grossly false and defamatory character; this new statement will take the place of the former grossly false and defamatory statements, wherever they exist, including all links thereto;
Comcast Corporation will issue a public apology to me for concluding that I acted with any racial animus or bias in connection with this incident, and stating that all the evidence known to Comcast Corporation suggests otherwise, and this public apology will be read on air on any broadcast that had previously aired grossly false and defamatory statements about me, including on MSNBC, and including by Joy Reid and Chris Hayes; and
Comcast Corporation will publicly announce that I have been publicly misrepresented as engaging in discriminatory misconduct, and this public announcement will be read on air on any broadcast that had previously aired grossly false and defamatory statements about me, including on MSNBC, and including by Joy Reid and Chris Hayes. Indeed, my work at Yale and beyond evidence that I harbor no racial animus whatsoever. To the contrary, I have dedicated myself to causes of social justice including the cause of eradicating all forms of discrimination.

I was shocked that they included a portion of the illegal video of me from May 8^th, 2018, the video in which my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, makes clear that she was targeting me because of my mental health disability. But, they failed to include the portions where my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, makes clear that she was targeting me because of my mental health disability, and that Yale had been illegally feeding her my personal information, including my name and mental health history, and that she illegally distributed this illegal video of me to publicly shame me for my mental health disability. So, Joy Reid and Chris Hayes and MSNBC were knowingly participating in an illegal campaign to shame an older, disabled woman for her mental health disability.

While listening to this video, this was the first time that I heard my attacker lie and say that one of my other attackers, Jean Louis Reneson, kept running into me after February 24^th, 2018, which is a straight up, bald faced lie. I never saw him again. Let me repeat that. I never saw him again. She goes on to say that he was re-traumatized each time he saw me, and that every black student on Yale’s campus would be re-traumatized by seeing me on campus. This is a preposterous, disgusting, straight-up, bald-faced lie almost beyond belief.

I thought it was very telling when my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, said that she was supposed to leave that next day for Nigeria. I knew and had made clear to the Yale Administration and the Yale Campus Police that the harassment and stalking and attacks against me were gaining in frequency and intensity, and I believed that this was because the end of the academic year was fast approaching and my attackers were becoming desperate to wreak their vengeance upon me for their delusional, jealous, and obsessive personal vendetta against me.

On May 7^th, I was up in the middle of the night, because I was trying desperately to pack up my belongings, clean my room, and flee my home, because I was terrified of being attacked. I had made arrangements to stay with friends in NYC. I had also been moving items into a storage unit in New Haven.

Joy Reid said that it feels like we’re back in the fight over whether black people are going to have access to public spaces. I want to let Joy Reid know that one of the key points of my legal and human and civil rights advocacy has been the desegregation of the public space. I want her to know that that’s why I chose to go work as a Human Rights Fellow at Ni Putes Ni Soumises in France, a women’s rights organization comprised primarily of women from the predominantly Muslim immigrant communities surrounding the major cities of France, for whom desegregation of the public space is a pillar of their movement. I want to ask Joy Reid why I didn’t have the right to feel safe and to be free from harassment, stalking, and attacks in my own home, my isolated dorm room, and as I walked across campus?

Of course, the entire panel and its assorted guests, a panel on everyday racism in America, in which I was included as an example of a racist, made grossly false and defamatory statement after statement about how what I did was racist, and how I was suspicious of my attacker, because of the color of her skin, and how I was trying to weaponize the police against black and brown people, and how I was trying to exclude black and brown people from my white space, and how I thought I had the authority to police my white space. It was, frankly, grotesque. It was a grotesque fairy tale concocted to endanger my life and destroy my lifelong career as an innocent human and civil rights licensed attorney activist.

“My discomfort with you right now is worth more than the potential that your life could be snuffed in ten minutes. Until that stops, nothing is going to change.”

I am literally in a state of shock right now, listening to this grotesque lie about me, about who I am, about what happened during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale, about what I did, and about what my motivations were.

When Tim Wise says something like this about me on MSNBC, this can only be construed as an attempt to endanger my life and destroy my career. He is trying to get me killed by saying that I was trying to kill a black person by weaponizing the police, which is the most grotesque and disgusting lie imaginable.

Then, Chris Hayes concocted a grotesque fairy tale immediately thereafter about what happened during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale.

Chris Hayes explicitly states that I called 911, which is a bald faced lie.

Chris Hayes explicitly states that I never tried to speak to my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, before calling the Yale campus police, which is a bald faced lie.

Chris Hayes explicitly states that I was so uncomfortable with my attacker, because of the color of her skin, which is why I didn’t even bother to try to speak to her before dialing 911, which is a straight up, bald faced lie.

Joy Reid explicitly states that what I did was a nuisance call, and that there should be legal repercussions for what I did.

Then the panel discussed how much of this is the result of gentrification and white people moving into black communities.

I just want to let Joy Reid and Chris Hayes and Tim Wise and MSNBC know that I grew up among black and brown people in a racially integrated religious cult, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the notion that I would regard a black or brown person as suspicious, because of the color of their skin is so ludicrous and asinine that it is too preposterous to be considered, except as an indication of how stupid someone is.

The panel also spoke about how all of these racist 911 callers who are trying to get black and brown people killed by weaponizing the police are motivated by Trump and Trump’s rhetoric, and how Trump unleashed our racism and empowered us to be racist.

These are all straight up, bald faced lies meant to destroy my life and career as a lifelong and innocent human and civil rights licensed attorney activist and to bring about my death by either driving me to suicide or inciting my murder.

I have a message for Joy Reid and Chris Hayes and Tim Wise and MSNBC:

I hope selling your souls was worth it. You are evil. You are evil. You need to ask God for forgiveness.

You destroyed the Living While Black movement. It is because of charlatans and frauds like you, who tell lies and broadcast lies to the world for moral outrage industry profit and gain, no matter how many innocent lives you destroy and no matter how many innocent people you get killed, that the Living While Black movement no longer exists.

You are the racists. You are the bigots. You are the ones who participated in the illegal campaign to publicly shame an older, poor, disabled woman for her mental health disability.

You are the ones who turned the Living While Black movement into the Great Racist Scare of 2018. You are the ones who turned the Living While Black movement into a blood sport of trying to get older, poor, white women with obvious or seeming mental health disabilities killed for moral outrage industry profit and gain.

The ACLU is Continuing Their Illegal Campaign to Try to Get Me Killed and to Publicly Shame Me for My Mental Health Disability

I just wanted to write a quick post to let the whole world know that I heard back from the ACLU, after I sent them a letter, informing them that their distribution of the illegal video recording of me from May 8th, 2018, is grossly illegal, and to demand that they retract their grossly false and defamatory claims about me, and to demand that they cease and desist in their illegal campaign to publicly shame an older, disabled woman for her mental health disability.

The ACLU told me that they are continuing their illegal campaign to try to get an innocent and lifelong human and civil rights licensed attorney activist and older, poor, disabled woman (me) killed. Apparently, the ACLU is disavowing their disability rights and privacy rights campaigns.

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar of The View on ABC Tried to Get Me Killed by Lying About Me for Money YouTube Channel Video Script

On May 11^th, 2018, The View aired a segment on ABC during which Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin made grossly false and defamatory statements about me and what happened during the Living or Napping While Black Hate Crime Hoax at Yale that can only be construed as an attempt to destroy my life and career as a human and civil rights licensed attorney activist and to bring about the death of an innocent civil rights activist and older disabled woman (my death) by either driving me to suicide or inciting my murder.

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin concocted a grotesque fairy tale about what occurred, and what I had done, and what my motivations were, and who I am.

I was shocked that they actually included a portion of the illegal video of me from May 8^th, 2018, where my attacker, Lolade Siyonbola, makes clear that she was targeting me because of my mental health disability. So, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin and The View and ABC were knowingly participating in an illegal campaign to shame an older, disabled woman for her mental health disability.

Whoopi Goldberg explicitly states that I called the police, because I found a black Yale graduate student sleeping in the common room of my dorm, meaning the huge, ground floor common room of the dorm. This is a straight up, bald faced lie.

Both Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar explicitly state that I was motivated by racial bias. This is a straight up, bald faced lie.

Whoopi Goldberg explicitly states that she thought the US had “moved past” my obviously racist actions and my not wanting black people in my white space. This is a straight up, bald faced lie.

Both Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar explicitly state that I was motivated by President Trump’s rhetoric, which “rots from the top” and “unleashed the worst parts of me.” This is a straight up, bald faced lie.

Joy Behar explicitly states that I was “up at 130 in the morning, patrolling the area,” meaning that I was trolling the huge, ground floor common room of my dorm for random sleeping black people on whom to call the police, because I’m a racist who hates black people. This is a straight up, bald faced lie.

(When actually I was being terrorized in my isolated dorm room at the top of a tower that evening and for months by my attackers.)

Joy Behar asked, “What’s with her?”

Sonny Hostin asked, “Is she the dorm police?”

Joy Behar asked, “What’s this other one doing?”

Then, they all laughed, because, apparently, it’s funny to drive an innocent civil rights activist to suicide for money.

Someone then says, “The idea that you go from 0 to 911 every time something goes wrong.”

These are straight up, bald faced lies meant to destroy my life and career as a human and civil rights licensed attorney activist and to bring about my death, by either driving me to suicide or inciting my murder.

Sunny Hostin then speaks at length about how I was motivated by racial bias, that what I did was a micro-aggression, and that I was suspicious of my attacker because of the color of her skin. These are straight up, bald faced lies.

Sunny Hostin then says that my attacker was either arrested or detained by police for sleeping in her dorm room. This is a straight up, bald faced lie.

Then, Whoopi Goldberg says that “something else has been unleashed in the country.”

Whoopi Goldberg says that my racist behavior came from Trump and was motivated by Trump.

Whoopi Goldberg says, “I feel that he’s given people permission to say whatever they want.”

Then, Whoopi Goldberg says that I engaged in bad behavior.

Whoopi Goldberg says that I “called the police from the first beat,” without even trying to talk to my attacker first.

Whoopi Goldberg says, “Go and ask.” As if I didn’t do exactly that.

On July 9, 2018, The View had another Living While Black segment, and during the entire segment they had a screen shot of me from the illegally recorded and distributed video of me from May 8^th, 2018, meant to shame me for my mental health disability, blown up on the screen behind the hosts, where I am mid-sentence, so my mouth is open, to make it look like I’m yelling and screaming, when I did nothing of the kind. This is the vilest behavior imaginable.

I have a message for The View and for ABC and for Whoopi Goldberg and for Joy Behar and for Sunny Hostin.
