My Response to Yale’s Ludicrous Request to Postpone the October 3rd CT FOIA Commission Hearing in Hartford, CT to get the Yale Police Body Camera Footage that Exonerates Me and Exposes Yale’s Grossly Illegal Misconduct

Hearing Officer McGee and Attorney Ross:

Per the attached letter from Yale’s Counsel, I object to the postponement of the hearing regarding the release of the Yale Police body camera footage from May 8th, 2018, of me only.  There is no need to postpone.  And, postponement puts me in a state of extreme financial hardship, a fact of which I believe Yale is fully aware.  I have already booked my travel, and this travel already put me in a state of extreme financial hardship.

Furthermore, there is no need for Chief Higgins to appear as a witness.  He was not present at any point during the YPD body camera footage. He received the same emails as everyone else did regarding the event in question, and I am going to provide those emails at the hearing, as well as emails and police reports that corroborate my reason for placing the call to the non emergency helpline of the Yale Police Department on May 8th, 2018, which Yale is claiming is an uncorroborated allegation, even though I had been instructed, repeatedly, by the Yale Administration and the Yale Police to call the YPD for any reason, at any time, even if I was unsure that their response was necessary.

Additionally, the exemption Yale is claiming is completely groundless.  They do not even have a prima facie basis for claiming this exemption.

There are no uncorroborated allegations during the YPD body camera footage, and even if there were, and the CT FOIA Commission allowed Yale to withhold the video in question on the basis of this exemption, this would mean that all police departments could always withhold body camera footage for any police response to a call.  This makes no sense whatsoever.

Moreover, I object to the insinuation that my blog post suggested anything other than that I have invited press to attend the hearing, and to cover the hearing, and that I intend to hold a press conference thereafter.  Any other suggestion is ludicrous.  So, there is no need for Yale’s Counsel to be present.

I hope very much that the hearing takes place on October 3rd, 2019, as scheduled.  I need desperately to have the Yale Police Department body camera footage released to the public to save my life and human and civil rights academic and legal careers.  My life and my lifelong civil rights career were destroyed by the Yale Administration and Police grossly defaming me after May 8th, 2018.  They knew that I was entirely innocent.  They knew that they were telling disgusting lies about me that almost drove me to suicide.  The public needs to know that I am entirely innocent.  The public needs to know of Yale’s grossly illegal misconduct.  I also wish to have the YPD body camera footage released asap, because I have filed multiple complaints with the Federal Office for Civil Rights, and they need to see this body camera footage and learn of Yale’s gross malfeasance, so that they will do the right thing and open an investigation into Yale’s gross violations of my Federal Civil Rights.

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Sarah Braasch
